Ringo Ramul: Fulfilling His Dream of Enjoying Life’s Simple Moments With Clear Vision

The acclaimed actor and director Ringo Ramul recently decided to free himself from glasses thanks to laser eye surgery at KSA Silmakeskus. After years of considering the procedure, he chose his 30th birthday as the moment to change his life and give himself the gift of excellent vision. Ringo shares how this decision has brought clarity and freedom into his everyday life and career.

Ringo graduated from the Theatre Arts programme at the Viljandi Culture Academy of the University of Tartu. He is currently an actor at Ugala Theatre in Viljandi, where he has received several recognitions, including the colleagues’ award for Best Actor in 2018 and 2021, as well as the audience award “Golden Apple” for Best Production in 2020. He is one of the most remarkable talents in Estonian theatre, whose creativity and dedication inspire many.

Ringo’s life changed significantly when, after years of consideration, he took a big step and got rid of his glasses at KSA Silmakeskus. When he turned 30, he decided that the time had come to leave uncomfortable situations behind and give himself excellent vision, allowing him to trust himself fully moving forward. “I decided that enough is enough — I’ll finally give myself this gift,” he shares.

Glasses had been an inseparable part of Ringo’s everyday life for many years. Even though he was used to wearing them, his nearsightedness often put him in uncomfortable situations. Ringo recalls many funny and strange moments caused by not having his glasses on.
“If I went to the spa, sauna or swimming without my glasses, I could be sure that something humorous would happen,” he laughs. Once, for example, he happily swam up to someone, smiling at them, only to realise at the last moment that it was a completely different person. Similar situations happened repeatedly in the sauna, where he would start talking to the wrong person and only later realise why his friend wasn’t responding.

Ringo’s decision to correct his vision at KSA Silmakeskus was partly influenced by his loved ones, who had been through the same procedure and praised it highly. “Glasses were a part of my identity, and although I had thought about the procedure for a long time, I kept postponing it for some reason. Many of my friends and acquaintances had gone through this journey at KSA and encouraged me strongly, which is why I eventually decided to follow in their footsteps,” Ringo says.

Ringo’s experience with the laser procedure was surprisingly positive. “Everything happened incredibly fast, and for me it was very easy. I had actually prepared myself for something much more uncomfortable,” he shares. Ringo adds that the whole process felt safe and calming, which helped him quickly ease his anxiety. “I felt really good before the procedure, during it, and afterwards — calm and well taken care of,” he recalls.

Ringo’s recovery also went smoothly. During the first week after the procedure, he had a strong cold, and dealing with it was far more uncomfortable than the sensitivity of his eyes. Aside from that, the slower, screen-free week felt refreshing for him. “At first, my vision could be extremely sharp one moment and suddenly blurry the next. That made me a bit impatient. I felt like — oh, the clarity is here! — and then it disappeared again,” he describes the recovery process. Fortunately, these fluctuations soon stopped, and Ringo’s vision became consistently clear.

Ringo felt confident enough to start driving again about two and a half weeks after the procedure. Watching theatre performances still required some effort to focus for about a month after the surgery, and his eyes continued to tire in the evenings for roughly two months. But overall, life after the laser procedure changed significantly for him. “It’s such a joy to open my eyes in the morning, skip the part where I search for my glasses on the nightstand, and immediately see everything clearly around me,” he says happily.
His everyday activities and hobbies have changed as well. “My vision no longer depends on any aids, and that makes my life so much freer. I see clearly, I understand what’s happening around me, and it makes experiences feel completely different,” he says with delight.

For those who still doubt or fear the laser procedure, Ringo has encouraging words: “There is nothing to be afraid of. You can confidently trust your vision to the people at KSA — they know exactly what they’re doing.” Ringo believes that the procedure is the best gift you can give yourself and a truly valuable experience. “The likelihood of anything going wrong is almost zero, so I believe it’s simply impossible to regret it,” he assures.
