15 most frequently asked questions about laser eye procedures

Are you considering a laser eye procedure but still have some doubts? Know that you’re not alone! We’ve compiled the 15 most frequently asked questions that our clients usually have before making their decision.
This article will help you understand how the procedure works, what to expect, and why Flow is today’s most advanced laser procedure. By the end of the article, you’ll have a clear picture (notice the wordplay!) of whether Flow is the right choice for you.

1. What is the Flow laser procedure? Flow is a cut- and touch-free laser procedure that treats the cornea using the world’s most advanced SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS laser. It corrects nearsightedness and allows you to give up your glasses or contact lenses.

2. Who is suitable for the Flow laser procedure? You are a suitable candidate if:

  • you are between 18 and 45 years old;
  • your vision has been stable over the past year;
  • your eyes are healthy, without any serious eye diseases;
  • you wish to get rid of glasses and contact lenses.

A pre-procedure eye examination and consultation at KSA Eye Centre will help determine your suitability.

3. Is the procedure painful? No – Flow is completely painless because we use high-tech numbing eye drops. According to client feedback, the most uncomfortable part was simply the sensation of a cool eye drop running down the cheek.

4. How long does the procedure take? The laser itself works for only up to 30 seconds per eye, and the entire procedure, including preparation, takes about 10–15 minutes. You’ll spend around an hour in the clinic in total. During that time, the correction will be checked one last time, you can choose your sunglasses, and if you wish, enjoy some tea, coffee, or a smoothie.

5. Will my vision be perfect after the procedure? Immediately after the procedure, vision may be slightly blurry, and we don’t recommend driving. Most clients reach the same level of visual acuity they had with glasses within a few days to a week. The maximum sharpness (100% or 20/20 vision) develops gradually during the recovery process.

6. How long does recovery take? Most clients notice a significant improvement after the third day. Full recovery takes as long as prescribed eye drops need to be used — usually about 7 days. During this time, it’s recommended to avoid bright light, swimming, and physical exercise.

7. Can I go to work the next day? It’s recommended to avoid screens for the first 3–4 days, although many clients prefer to take a 7-day break. We advise resting during this period, taking time off, and spending as much time outdoors as possible — fresh air helps with recovery.

8. When can I exercise again? Light activities (such as walking or yoga) are allowed a few days after the procedure. A week later, once the protective lenses are removed, all lifestyle restrictions end, and most clients can return to their regular workout routines — even more intensive ones (including swimming and contact sports).

9. What are the risks? The Flow procedure is extremely safe, but as with all medical procedures, minor risks are possible — such as temporary dryness or blurred vision, which typically disappear within a few weeks.

10. How does the Flow procedure compare to LASIK? Unlike LASIK, the Flow procedure does not involve cutting the cornea, making it safer for athletes, people with an active lifestyle, and those with thinner corneas. The result: less trauma, longer-term stability, and a lower risk of dry eye syndrome.

11. Mis juhtub, kui mu nägemine muutub pärast protseduuri? Flow annab püsivaid tulemusi, kuid harvadel juhtudel, kui nägemine muutub, saab teha väikese järelkorrigeerimise. KSA Silmakeskus pakub protseduurile 7-aastast garantiid.

12. Is Flow better than contact lenses? Incorrect use of contact lenses poses a higher risk of eye infections and dryness, while Flow offers a one-time and permanent solution without these risks.

13. How much does the Flow laser procedure cost? The procedure costs €2890 and includes high-quality sunglasses, medications, moisturizing eye drops, taxi transport within Tallinn after the procedure, 24/7 patient support, and post-procedure check-ups for one year.

14. Is it possible to finance the procedure with installment payments? Yes. In cooperation with our partners, we offer various payment options from which everyone can choose the most suitable one.

Please note that payment plans are a financial service. Before signing an agreement, we recommend reviewing the terms and consulting a specialist if necessary. You can find KSA’s financing partners here.

15. Where to start? Begin with a pre-procedure Flow vision examination, which you can register for here. This will help determine whether the touch- and cut-free Flow laser procedure introduced above is suitable for you.
