Oskar Punga: “Dream big — or don’t dream at all.

Every pair of eyes is unique and every person deserves an approach that takes their needs and expectations into account.

Oskar is an actor at Viljandi Ugala Theatre. He has many hobbies that range from snowboarding and hiking in nature to solving crosswords and baking bread. He loves cycling, playing ping pong with friends, and walking his dog. Life is full of joy and discovery – and now that his vision is absolutely perfect, he enjoys it all even more.

Glasses and lenses – 15 years of compromise

Oskar got his first glasses back in middle school when he realized he couldn’t clearly see the blackboard from the back of the classroom. As a young man who also played football, he soon switched to wearing contact lenses.
That meant 15 years of everything that comes with it: dealing with lens solution, forgetting glasses at home, and sometimes facing unpleasant surprises — like when a lens suddenly popped out in the middle of the day and there was no spare. Over the years, all of this became an annoying routine he wanted to break free from.

Why laser vision correction?

The thought of “fixing his eyes” had been on Oskar’s mind for quite some time.
When he turned 30, he began to seriously ask himself — why should he keep wearing contact lenses and glasses when it’s possible to see the world clearly without them? “As I started adding up the numbers, I realized that if I’m lucky, I could spend the rest of my life enjoying great eyesight — or at least not have to put ‘Oskar Punga – lenses in eyes’ on my gravestone,” he jokes. “Spare glasses, backup glasses, daily lenses, monthly lenses, lens solution, fresh containers, blue L and white R markings — all that can finally stay behind as a small chapter of my life.”
When he also heard about positive experiences from friends who had their procedure done at KSA Silmakeskus, making the decision was easy.

Recovery and first impressions

On the day of the procedure, Oskar experienced a brief moment of discomfort, but already the next day he felt that everything was going much better than expected. His friends had warned him about a tough recovery period, but his experience was the opposite — everything just kept getting better. He returned to theatre rehearsals the very next day, and about three weeks later, he was already performing on stage, seeing the audience sharply — just being a bit more careful with the bright spotlights.

Life after the procedure

After the laser procedure, Oskar’s life became much more detailed and comfortable. For example, he now especially enjoys the view of Lake Viljandi from his home window — it seems even more beautiful and heartwarming than before. When watching theatre performances, the view is crystal clear, and one of his favorite small moments is noticing a friend from afar and being the first to wave hello. And if it turns out later that it wasn’t someone he knew — at least he can no longer blame his eyesight!

What’s next?

Oskar admits that he used to be a rather careless contact lens wearer (he would often wear them for too long or even swim with them), so now he has a new goal — to explore the underwater world. He wants to try diving and experience it to the fullest.

If someone is thinking about laser vision correction, Oskar says it’s not worth hesitating —
it’s one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Any discomfort lasts only for a moment, but the freedom and clear vision remain for life. “Dream big — or don’t dream at all,” he sums up his positive experience.
