The Fulfillment of a Dancer’s Dream

Every pair of eyes is unique and every person deserves an approach that takes their needs and expectations into account.

Get to know Taimi – a spirited globetrotter, fiery dancer, and acroyoga lover. Her days were spent planning community gatherings, and her nights whirled away on the dance floor to the beat of Brazilian Zouk or Bachata. But throughout the years, one thing always felt out of place in her life’s rhythm – glasses and contact lenses.

Taimi got her first pair of glasses in fifth grade, which according to her was quite a difficult time to be choosing them, as nothing in the store seemed suitable for a young girl. This was followed by 17 years of constantly relying on vision aids. While dancing, she preferred contact lenses, as glasses simply wouldn’t stay in place when movement became more intense. During acroyoga, sauna visits, or spa days with friends, being without lenses meant accepting that her vision did not reach beyond a few meters. One memorable incident happened at a water park when, while playing in the wave pool with children, one of her lenses fell out. The dilemma: should she continue with just one lens or remove the other one as well? “I laughed at the situation, but at the same time it clearly showed how inconvenient life with glasses and lenses truly was,” she says.

How a Dream Became Reality

She had dreamed of laser vision correction for years. Her wish was clear: to undergo the procedure in her hometown so she wouldn’t have to deal with long travel right after surgery. When it came time to choose a clinic, the recommendation from her loved ones became the deciding factor — KSA Silmakeskus stood out to her not only for its professionalism, but also for its genuine warmth. Friends had mentioned how the staff would even check in afterwards to ask if everything was going well, and that deeply resonated with her.

The fulfillment of her dream was made possible by three very important people in Taimi’s life, each of whom shared their kindness wholeheartedly. It all began when her friend from India sold her property, which allowed her to support someone dear to her. Then Taimi’s best friend — a publisher — also stepped in, moved by the shared values he and Taimi hold close. And of course, Taimi’s partner didn’t hesitate either: seeing her dedication, he took on all rental obligations for a couple of months so that Taimi could save enough for the procedure. She was deeply moved — and remains incredibly grateful to this day.

Recovery: New Sensations, Puzzles, and Soul Songs

The first days after the procedure were quiet and peaceful — her eyes were tired, yet this gave her the chance to rediscover other senses. A blueberry seemed to burst with flavor as she bit into it, and raspberries melted in her mouth. Friends came to visit — they sang soul songs together, tried to finish puzzles, and ate pancakes. A week later, she was back at work and dance classes. Three weeks later, she was already driving again.

Seeing as a New Life

At first, Taimi still had the habit of reaching up to “take off her glasses before bed,” only to laugh when she remembered she could see without them. “I saw stars and magical northern lights clearly and effortlessly for the first time. While walking, I started paying more attention to details — distant treetops, the texture of the forest floor, the clear lines and carvings of houses — as if I were seeing life anew,” she recalls vividly.

If you dream of laser vision correction but something (like fear) is holding you back, know that at KSA you’ll be received with care and warmth. During the procedure, Taimi discovered through her conversation with the ophthalmologist that they even shared a mutual love for Thailand!
“I want to thank the surgeons in the operating room — their movements were so gentle, and they asked questions about my life to make sure I felt calm during the procedure.
Thanks also to all the friendly optometrists and administrators who welcomed me so warmly every time, and to the lovely person who called me after the operation to ask how my healing was going. I felt deeply supported by all of you,”
Taimi says with heartfelt gratitude.
