Third Time’s the Charm: Kristin’s Journey to a Life Without Glasses

Every pair of eyes is unique and every person deserves an approach that takes their needs and expectations into account.

Kristin Kerro describes herself as an active homemaker, a grounded health and wellness advocate, and a content creator. What makes her story unique is that it took her not one, not two, but three attempts before finally undergoing vision correction surgery. Today, her life looks completely different: she has become more physically active, even earning her certification as a personal trainer.

Early start with glasses and ongoing challenges

Kristin was introduced to glasses at a very young age—already in the second grade. What started as discomfort soon became acceptance, as glasses allowed her to see the world more clearly. Over the years, she also tried contact lenses, but her eyes reacted with irritation and discomfort.
Daily life with glasses often felt limiting, especially during workouts or more active moments. One of the clearest examples was at the maternity ward: due to her strong prescription, she didn’t dare take her glasses off—otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to see her newborn’s face.

Many steps, many setbacks

Kristin’s desire to leave glasses behind had been strong for years. Her first attempts in Latvia ended in disappointment when she learned that laser vision correction wasn’t possible there.
Back in Estonia, she discovered KSA Vision Clinic, where the first step was a thorough eye exam. The results showed no major contraindications, except for inflammation in one eye. Kristin started treatment at Tartu University Hospital, and after recovering, she returned for her third attempt. This time, everything was perfect—the doctors gave her the green light. As the saying goes: third time’s the charm!

Quick recovery and a new quality of life

Although friends had warned her about a recovery, Kristin experienced quite the opposite. Within just a couple of days, she was back to her normal rhythm. The initial haze faded quickly, and with proper eye hydration, recovery was smooth and stress-free. She also emphasizes the importance of wearing sunglasses after the procedure.

A dream come true

A new chapter in life opened up: Kristin began training without glasses, enjoying running, gym workouts, and the pure freedom of clear vision. Today, she works as a certified personal trainer, helping others pursue healthier lifestyles.
Previously, she couldn’t see “beyond her own nose,” but now she experiences the world fully—clear, free, and without limitations. Family time, healthy eating, and being outdoors are the values at the heart of her life, and all of them feel more meaningful now.

Her biggest dream had always been to wake up in the morning and see her children’s faces without first searching for her glasses. In the past, nobody at home was allowed to touch her glasses, because if misplaced, finding them was nearly impossible. That daily struggle is gone for good.
“After the surgery, my real life began,” Kristin says.

Advice to those who hesitate

For Kristin, the hardest part was making the decision. She believes fear and uncertainty are often bigger obstacles than the procedure itself. Her advice to anyone considering vision correction:

  • Do your research and ask questions. Most fears come from not knowing enough. Talk to people who’ve had the procedure, read experience stories (for example, on the KSA website), or consult specialists—sometimes a single call can ease your worries.
  • Think long-term. How many years have you been wearing glasses or lenses? Imagine how much easier life could be without them.
  • Don’t fear change—fear staying stuck. Growth often begins with discomfort, and stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to life-changing results.
  • Trust modern technology. The KSA Flow laser procedure takes just a few minutes, and recovery can be surprisingly easy.

Kristin’s final message is simple and powerful: “Just do it. Your eyesight is your greatest asset.”
