“Why didn’t I do it earlier?” – Anni’s journey to freedom from minus glasses

Every pair of eyes is unique and every person deserves an approach that takes their needs and expectations into account.

Myopia may seem like a small concern. A minus of –1.75 doesn’t sound like much. But when it affects driving, going to the cinema, or recognizing acquaintances on the street, it becomes an everyday obstacle.

This is Anni’s story — her journey to the KSA procedure and, as a mother of two, her path to a laser treatment that changed both her vision and her quality of life.

The Journey to Medicine and to KSA Eye Center

2024. In February of that year, Anni began her nursing studies at Tallinn Health Care College. The job opportunity at KSA Eye Center came to her through the school, and the decision to apply happened quickly.

Before that, she had worked for years in completely different fields — both in banking and in a construction company. Office work, routine, and long days in front of a screen. At one point, she felt she wanted to do something more meaningful. There was a family member who required ongoing medical care, and that experience deepened her interest in healthcare. Long days behind a computer in banking had tired her eyes, but it was only after starting work at KSA that Anni realized screen fatigue wasn’t the only issue — her vision itself needed clarity.

Anni had been wearing minus glasses since the 10th grade. She had never used contact lenses. The minus was small, but enough that:

  • she couldn’t see road signs clearly from a distance,
  • details in the cinema would blur,
  • recognizing acquaintances on the street became difficult.

She recalls one restaurant visit with a smile, when she had left her glasses at home and her blurry vision led to a funny misunderstanding with the waiter. Back then it felt embarrassing; today it’s simply a humorous memory.

Sound familiar? In rainy and slushy weather, glasses fog up and visibility becomes limited. For Anni, this was a normal situation — until she decided to free herself from glasses.

The Decision for Laser Treatment – Trust Grows from Experience

Working with patients every day, Anni saw the results that the Flow3 laser procedure delivers. She also heard about her colleagues’ experiences. Trust grew step by step.

“The only thing I regret is not making this decision earlier,” she says today. On the day of the procedure, she felt confident. She knew exactly how everything would work and fully trusted the team.

The final push to go through with the laser procedure came when an optometrist colleague demonstrated how well she would be able to see without glasses. It was a clear and concrete understanding of the result.

Procedure Day – Employee and Patient in One Role

The procedure day passed calmly. Anni knew exactly what to expect and felt she was in safe hands. Since she had scheduled the procedure for the evening, she was still able to work as usual during the day.

The most enjoyable moment came a few days later, when she noticed while driving that she could see road signs clearly from a distance — without glasses. That was the first moment when the change truly felt real.

“I had this thought — why didn’t I make this decision earlier? How much money had I spent on glasses by then?” she recalls. That’s when it became clear that this wasn’t just about vision correction, but about a change in quality of life.

Life Without Minus Glasses

Anni returned to work in less than two weeks. She adjusted the computer screen’s font size as needed, and her daily tasks were handled smoothly.

Everyday little joys are now much easier:

  • going to the spa with her children without glasses,
  • cycling and staying active,
  • driving with clear vision,
  • clearly seeing the audience at a folk dance festival.

For many, these may seem like small details, but for someone who wears glasses, freedom from them is a noticeable change.

Personal experience helps to better understand

As a procedure nurse, Anni now understands patients even better. Their questions and doubts are not just theoretical for her — she has gone through the same journey herself.

She knows what it means to wait for clear vision. She knows how great the joy of the first glasses-free drive can be. It is this personal experience that helps her understand patients even better.

Laser Treatment as an Investment in Yourself

Anni’s message to those who are still hesitating: “Laser treatment is an investment in yourself and a small gift to your well-being. Life is already complicated — why make it even harder by wearing additional aids?”

It’s not just a change in vision. It’s a step toward an easier everyday life, greater freedom, and a more confident sense of self. Whether your minus is small or larger — the question isn’t only about diopters, but about how comfortably and freely you live your life.

If you have been thinking about freeing yourself from glasses, the answer begins with a thorough Flow3 eye examination. There you can find out whether the flap-free laser procedure is suitable for your eyes.
