Ophthalmologist’s appointment

Eye check-up for all ages

Clear vision supports daily well-being and joy in life. If you want to make sure that everything is fine with your or your child’s eyes, you are welcome to book an appointment with our ophthalmologist. The check-up can be done preventively without any complaints, but especially if you notice changes in your vision, experience eye fatigue or headaches.

Everyone from preschool age is welcome to our appointments. We take a creative approach with toddlers and aim to perform as many tests as possible. Early vision screening helps prevent potential problems and ensures that the eyes work well in sync with the child’s overall development.

  • checking visual acuity for both distance and near;
  • measuring refraction (providing a glasses prescription if necessary);
  • measuring intraocular pressure (for glaucoma risk assessment);
  • slit lamp examination – assessment of the front of the eye and lens;
  • if needed, a fundus examination using special eye drops (to dilate pupils), to get a more detailed overview of the retina and optic nerve;
  • feedback and recommendations from the doctor.
  • standard vision check;
  • measuring plus/minus values, i.e. refraction (autorefractometry);
  • measuring the strength of existing glasses, i.e. lensometry;
  • measuring intraocular pressure, i.e. tonometry (important for identifying glaucoma risk);
  • topographic imaging of the cornea (keratoconus diagnostics);
  • measuring corneal curvature, i.e. keratometry;
  • measuring corneal thickness, i.e. pachymetry;
  • examination of the anterior part of the eye and the lens using a Scheimpflug camera;
  • OCT scan to detect pathologies in the retina and optic nerve;
  • if needed, visual field tests;
  • fundus photography with a fundus camera (helps detect changes in the retina);
  • microscopic eye examination, i.e. biomicroscopy;
  • various visual function tests (e.g. color perception, binocular cooperation, etc.);
  • a detailed summary of the examination.
  • if you experience changes in vision or have eye-related complaints;
  • if it has been a long time since your last eye check-up;
  • if you need a new glasses prescription;
  • if your child is starting school or is having trouble concentrating;
  • if you simply want to be sure everything is fine with your vision.
  • The children's appointment lasts 30–60 minutes, for adults 60 minutes.
  • Appointments are available in Tallinn and Tartu.
  • All test results are automatically added to the patient portal and sent via email.
  • If you prefer to receive the report in hard copy, please call 644 5060 to inform us when you'd like to pick up the results. We reserve the right to charge an additional fee for providing the report in hard copy.
  • For a duplicate report, a digitally signed request must be submitted, or you can complete and sign the request form in person at KSA Eye Center. We reserve the right to charge an additional fee for a duplicate report in hard copy.
  • The visit is calm, personal, and without long waiting times.

  • Children's vision examination with an ophthalmologist (ages 2.5 to 3 years) – 99 €

Hi, I’m Dr Ants Haavel

As the founder of KSA Eye Center, I'm proud to lead our medical activities with a deep commitment to enhancing vision and improving lives.

Having corrected nearly 30,000 pairs of eyes, my journey in ophthalmology has been enriched by extensive global learning, from the University of Tartu where I began in 1989, to advanced professional courses across Europe and Asia.

My expertise is not just based on education but on real-world experience in countries like Estonia, Finland, Sweden, France, Germany, and beyond.

Beyond my professional life, I find joy in reading and sailing, which I believe adds to my perspective as a surgeon.

Trust and credibility in my work come from this blend of global knowledge, hands-on practice, and a genuine passion for what I do.
